it's is bigger than all the parts that made it.

I vote fi5e.

I like this.
alot.

I thought I liked it ok, but I wasn't sure.
I had to double check, so I watched it twice in a row.
I liked it even more after the second view. I caught even _more_ complexities and subtleties that I missed, the first time.

I'm glad you wrote, "don't worry if you don't understand," because that's part of the reason I pushed the replay button: to look for meaning. Thanx! I don't expect portal submissions to make sense, be deep or intelligent. I guess I've seen too many of the terribly blam-worthy bits, and gotten bitter! (O_V)#

This is much deeper, and more expertly rendered than was obvious on first view.

From the very excellent (fbf?) cloud effects early, through every motion or light effects to the end, everything was so apropriately used in each scene, and so deftly executed, that I didn't even notice them on first play...

I know 10 points than the other scores' total -- I think this submission says more than all the parts it's made from could all together equal.

--it transcends itself--

(that's my opinion, anyway...)

good idea.

great idea, fair execution.
I liked the art, and the concept itself is really good. (rats/star reversal with the rodent characters is brilliant!)

but...

I didn't really understand what you were trying to say most of the time. The dialog didn't seem to make much sense.

-- Just a guess, but I think you need help translating your script/dialog into English. Some of your translation attempts didn't work properly -- ie: "I'm paper and you're glue," doesn't really mean anything in English, while "I'm _rubber_ and you're glue," is a phrase that most native speakers will understand. (words bounce from me and stick to you) -- I'm pretty sure the Newgrounds BBS community would help you out...click the "FORUMS" button (top of page), then click GENERAL, then start a NEW TOPIC asking for help. (be sure to read & follow the rules!)

HTH, (hope this helps)

PurpleRat-YS responds:

What are you talking about?… you of all people should know that the bad English is referents to LucasArts game “Monkey Island” insult sword fighting! Which is used as a hit that fluke is going to loses the fight. I also didn’t expected many people know that because they haven’t played the game.

Nice work.

I'm looking forward to this projects final release. This is some pretty cool stuff. I really liked the eyes of fire with sublininal shizzle.
(nice handle!)

very slow...

this seemed to take a long time...
and the music was drilling a hole in my skull the whole time.
I'm sorry, but the music chosen for this piece really grated on my nerves.

I'm really, truly sorry the lady's love was not won by this... but the lady's love is rarely won by one who chases her, but only given freely to one that she chooses.
I'll tell you: don't chase women.
(I had to get old before I learned this lesson... to late)

Also: don't let the reviews that comment about your use of English bother you. I'm sure you do better in English than they could do in your native language. (unless, of course, English is your first language... but I don't think it is)

Anyway.... don't stop making Flash. (or tell your friend not to stop) I see potential here...

I hope this helps.

RadiCalvo responds:

He says:
Indeed, my primary languaje it's not english, It's spanish. It's a shame you don't like the song but was the best choice I found, I was short of time when I did this movie. About chasing women, yep! it's a fact, I learned this lesson with this girl T_T
Thanks for your critic!!

Love it.

I read your comments first, and I was already prepared to enjoy this work, just by seeing your response to the community. I will admit, though, I was prepared to be left confused or wondering what you were trying to say with this.
I didn't find this confusing or vague in any way, and the 'message' was pretty clear to me... especially when 'businessman' walked backwards and devolved, only to wake in the city again.
So true, so obvious, so difficult to say with words.
Thanks for this intelligent submission. (you are well deserving of front page.)

I've loved "X&D" since episode 1. (w00t!!)

This is a great series for so many reasons, I _know_ I won't mention all of them, but here's a partial list:

kewl retro-styling (starry exhaust from "ghost's" jet-pack is great!)
the attention to story-telling and writing
announcer's voice over (the way you say "adVENtyoors", especially!)
"Xylus." (teh #1 best name I've ever heard!! Rock on, Xylus!)

Also, I really like the fact that the story is written and animated by an older brother. It's really cool that you two brothers are also friends. I can relate. (I've got 2 younger bros. We're grown, but we're still buds.)

To the whole "Xylus and Dexter" crew: Y'all are just teh 1337!!
Now I'm gonna go check out your web-site!

good animation.

nice work. the animation was smooth.
the writing is f'in' high-larry-us!
I <3 your Patrick Stewart impersonation!! It's right accurate, that is.
(BTW: excellent choice for irate motorist in the bubble-bobble characters!!)
the only thing I would add is a King Arthur reference, since he played Arthur in the film "Excalibur" many years before he was Cap'n Piccard...

Nice work...

*PreReview: reviewer disclosure:*
First things first:
This is a PSA. (public service announcement)
There's not one thing wrong with PSAs, and this is an important topic, but it's a PSA.
Even, like this one, when they're well done and entertaining, PSAs usually bug me. This one was one of the better short films about litter I've ever seen (except the "crying Indian" anti litter PSA in the '70s..)

*Opinion:*
This flash should be on tv, teaching this lesson to the keedz.
(hey - just becase I've heard the message a bazillion times and more doesn't mean there isn't anyone who still doesn't know not to litter, I guess.) Also, this one is semi-funny/non-annoying, which is a huge plus in my book! (that meanz I like it.)

*bottom-line:*
Very smooth character animation and well designed, well drawn character...
I love the voice-over work, and I love the character-voice you used.

*BONUS commentary:*
Could be improved, in my view, by the addition of some background art. (blank/white bg == L4ZY 4NiM4T10N.)
Also, I like how you dealt with the issue of lip-synch... the only voice is done offscreen & onscreen character is silent/non-verbal communicator. It's pretty smart thinking on your part, and I'd bet it saved you a lot of work.... (== L4ZY 4NiM4T10N, but cleverly done)
